The Basque Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment Arantxa Tapia took part in the official opening of the Global Offshore Wind Summit (GOWS), which is being held in the Japanese city of Kytakyushu. After the opening ceremony, she visited the Basque Energy Cluster stand at the event, where 10 Basque companies are exhibiting their capabilities and projects in the field of offshore wind under the joint brand “Offshore Wind Basque Country”.
Councillor Arantxa Tapia participated in the opening ceremony of the GOWS event together with the Mayor of Kytakyushu, the Vice President of the Japan Wind Power Association (JPWA) and the Director of the Danish Energy Agency. In his speech he presented the Basque Energy Strategy, highlighted the industrial capacities of Basque companies in the energy sector and focused on the competitiveness and international positioning of those that form part of the offshore wind value chain.
The Basque Energy Cluster has set up a joint stand at GOWS under the brand “Offshore Wind Basque Country”. Ten Basque companies will be exhibiting their technological and industrial capabilities in offshore wind power, with the aim of positioning themselves for the expected deployment of offshore wind farms, both fixed and floating foundations, off the coast of Japan. The participating companies are the following: Ditrel, Hine, Irizar Forge, Kimua, Liftra, Nautilus, Nervion Naval offshore, Saitec, Sener, Slingsintt, Vicinay.
The Basque Energy Cluster stand will also show the progress of various technological development projects that Basque companies and technology centres are developing in collaboration, such as KONFLOT, control co-design of floating renewable energies.
